Jackson Lewis landed a 39-member lobbying group from Wilson Elser Moskowitz Edelman & Dicker led by partner Kenneth Shapiro, founder of the latter’s government relations group in Albany, New York, according to the New York Law Journal. Jackson Lewis expects to add about $13 million in revenue through that acquisition.

Carlos Mendez-Peñate, 64, graduated from the elite Phillips Exeter Academy boarding school, as well as from Yale University and Yale Law School, where he served as editor of the Yale Law Journal. He went on to follow in his father’s legal footsteps: As an Akerman partner, and co-chair of the firm’s Latin America and Caribbean practice, part of his duties include advising U.S. companies on doing business in Cuba within the new regulations. He also represents them as outside counsel in meetings with the Cuban government.
